Community Based Enforcement System

A critical output of any conservation project is to strengthen enforcement capacity. TCF will work actively with the district governments and local residents to train, manage and compensate the Anti-Poaching Brigade. The brigade is a stop-gap measure to monitor and enforce natural resource use activities, particularly along the sensitive, high-use fishing areas of the Eg and Uur rivers. After identifying the main threats to the wildlife in the EUWA TCF has elaborated Law Enforcement Strategy in order to reduce and eliminate poaching activities of wildlife, endangered species with special focus on taimen in the EUWA through partnership with local people and local administration in Hovsgol and Bulgan provinces. The most threatened species from poaching are Hucho Taimen, Musk deer, Red deer, and Wild Boar. This Law Enforcement Strategy focuses to reduce the poaching and illegal trading of Hucho taimen as a “flagship species” and other rare and endangered mammals in the EUWA.
